Provincial Nominee Program

Alberta

Alberta Opportunity, Express Entry, Rural Renewal, Tourism and Hospitality, and 4 dedicated entrepreneur streams — plus a free eligibility checker.

How AAIP works

Alberta runs 8 active streams across two groups. Four are worker streams: the Alberta Opportunity Stream nominates workers with 12+ months of Alberta experience in the last 18 months (or 24+ months in Canada/abroad in the last 30 months, 6+ months for PGWP holders); the Alberta Express Entry Stream draws candidates from the federal pool who have ties to the province, often at lower CRS scores than a direct federal draw, and includes the Accelerated Tech Pathway and Law Enforcement Pathway; Rural Renewal supports designated communities that endorse candidates with a local job offer; and Tourism and Hospitality nominates workers already employed by an approved Alberta tourism/hospitality employer on an LMIA-backed work permit — it explicitly excludes business owners. Four separate streams cover entrepreneurs, each with its own published minimum: Rural Entrepreneur ($300,000 net worth, $100,000 investment, rural communities only), Farm ($500,000 net worth, $500,000 investment), Graduate Entrepreneur (34% ownership, for PGWP holders who graduated from an Alberta institution), and Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur (34% ownership and $100,000 in Edmonton/Calgary, or 51% and $50,000 elsewhere, for degrees earned outside Canada). Alberta launched its own official AAIP Eligibility Explorer in June 2026 — a real, current government tool (unlike Ontario's, which is stale) that points toward which streams are worth exploring, without scoring or a verdict. Ours below works the same way.

What's your goal in Alberta?

We'll ask the right questions for your actual goal — no generic form.

Signals we look at first

  • The specific Alberta/Canada work-experience threshold the Opportunity Stream actually requires
  • A genuine, demonstrable tie to Alberta (Express Entry Stream)
  • A job offer from an employer in a Rural Renewal-designated community
  • Which of Alberta's 4 entrepreneur streams actually fits your venture type
  • The net-worth, investment, or ownership minimum published for that specific stream

Where this fits

Every provincial program changes on its own schedule, and Alberta's is no exception — the summary above is preliminary and requires RCIC review against your actual file. Our own eligibility signals are never a verdict; only a licensed RCIC can confirm what you qualify for. Compare Alberta against every other province
