How NLPNP works
The Express Entry Skilled Worker category is assessed against an official Point Assessment Grid with a published minimum of 67 points, weighing education/training, skilled work experience, language ability, age, and connection/adaptability to the NL labour market. Successful Express Entry Skilled Worker candidates get the standard +600 CRS boost and an ITA at a subsequent federal draw. The Skilled Worker stream nominates candidates with a provincial job offer outside Express Entry too — any TEER level is accepted, though a language test is required specifically for TEER 4 and 5 occupations. The International Graduate stream supports graduates of recognized institutions with provincial employment. Priority Skills NL targets in-demand talent in ocean technology, healthcare, and aquaculture, in some cases without a job offer. International Entrepreneur and Graduate Entrepreneur categories serve business owners against a published minimum net worth of $600,000 and investment of $200,000.
No provincial application fees
Newfoundland and Labrador eliminated its provincial application fees back in 2022 (the former $250 skilled-worker and $1,000 entrepreneur charges), and that remains the case today — there's no separate NLPNP fee on top of the federal application costs. NL's own immigration office doesn't publish a standard processing-time target for NLPNP applications; check IRCC's published federal processing times for the stage that follows a provincial nomination. Once invited, you'll have a 60-day window to submit a complete application.
